Rima called Abhi at 6 a.m. on 30th August, Tuesday, to discuss certain tips for students, teachers and coordinators, to prepare better for the Evaluation visit. The important ones are listed below:

For Students:
  • Students should be working with Interactive boards so that they are comfortable and confident using it. This must be achieved in especially Nursery (as they have a touch screen one) and in the upper grades of 3, 4 an 5
  • Students’ portfolio should be displayed as a working folder, with reflections from at least the first UOI. This can be an informal record, but needs to demonstrate reflection as an ongoing practice
  • Students should be allowed to use the teachers' laptops so that they are comfortable about it being a class resource for internet research

For Teachers:
  • Learner Profile to be more prominent in PE and Library
  • Essential Agreements to be done and displayed in PE, Library and the ICT Lab
  • Teacher’s table should not be in the front as it gives a non facilitating impression
  • Classes should show integration in Hindi through displays
  • Students should be encouraged to use laptops for internet research
  • No use of textbooks as students should not talk about them
  • Teachers to not use worksheets and create task sheets to demonstrate inquiry and differentiation; Coordinators to explain this in their teams as well as whole staff
  • Teacher’s portfolio… must be accessible as a working folder, in which records and notes of the first unit should be filed
  • Resources to be labelled in class clearly
  • Every portfolio should have a record of assessment of the attribute in the context of the current UOI. It could be in the form of Self Reflection and Teacher's Reflection

The GLCs and PYP Coordinator need to address this with the teachers and help them warm up to these practices. That way, in the next 3 weeks, a lot of these practices would have settled in. Cheers!
